MATURING LIKE OUR MASTER

HELPING ONE ANOTHER TO LOOK MORE LIKE JESUS CHRIST

"As iron sharpens iron so one man sharpens another" (Proverbs 27:17).  We don't grow alone.  The best growth happens in life on life community, where we know one another and are able to hold each other accountable while taking steps of faith in Jesus Christ.  We practice this through discipleship in which we focus on 3 areas:

LEARNING
We are called to love the Lord our God with our heart, mind, and soul.  The best way to love God with our minds is by reading and studying his word and learning how to apply it to our lives.

LOVING
Throughout scripture God called a people to himself and longed for them to worship him out of a heartfelt desire for him.  Today we seek to grow in the Lord by loving him for who he is most of all.

LEADING
Jesus calls us to make disciples of all nations.  We must not be passive observers but active participants in the kingdom of God.  We seek to use our gifts to bless and lead others to deeper faith in Jesus Christ.
LIFE ON LIFE

We want to be a people who are growing deeply in Jesus Christ and helping others to grow deeply in him.  Whether you are a new believer in Jesus or have followed Christ for decades, all of us can grow in our discipleship with Jesus Christ.  At Sunbury City Church, we seek to accomplish this growth by encouraging all attenders to join a Missional Community.  There you will find a group of 8-15 adults seeking to live for God in everyday life.  Once you are connected in a missional community we offer one-on-one or smaller group discipleship to those who want to be used by God to help others in their walk with Jesus Christ.  To learn more about how you might be able to grow in this more intimate environment, simply fill out the contact form and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

EQUIPPING THE NEXT GENERATION

"The harvest is plentiful but the laborers are few" (Matthew 9:37).  These are Jesus' words to his disciples as he looks across the harvest field of men, women, and children living without hope in him.  There's a need, but there's not enough meeting that need.  What's the remedy?  Prayer and discipleship.  But how do we accomplish this vision?  We do so by teaching others all that Jesus has taught us.  To aid in that process we use a resource called Marks of Maturity, a simple guide with 12 markers that show us what maturity in Jesus Christ looks like. With this guide, we have idenitified Biblical resources to aid in your growth.  If you want to learn more, simply check out the Marks of Maturity resource at the 4th Level website.
