ELDER'S UPDATE
Why? Has that word ever crossed your mind? Have you ever felt confused? I definitely have. And often the answer to that question can really bring clarity and stability to life. One of the areas that I have forgotten to remind us of is why do we exist as a church and why do we seek to reach out to others. Sure, we have a mission statement. But that’s not what I mean. What I mean is, why are we here as a church. We exist for two reasons: one is because God’s glory is so great we can’t help but gather together to talk about it. God is such an awesome God who cares for us and walks with us. We can’t help but to simply share with one another what he has done. And that’s what Sundays are for. To share what God has done and who God is. And the second reason is to be equipped to share with those around us who don’t know Jesus Christ. Because God is so awesome, we gather to remind one another with the overflow to be sharing with others around us. We are needy people pointing other needy people to the place where we’ve found water. And we want to keep doing that. We exist as a church because God in Christ Jesus came to us and rescued us. He loved us. He still loves us. And we want to experience that love more and more and share that love with others. Let’s keep reminding ourselves why we're here. It’s all for Jesus.
With love, Pastor Derek
